^Saturday 25th. We arrived in Charing Cross at seven oC – ^in the morning & I im=
mediately drove in a hackney coach to the Oxford Hotel,
& secured a place on the Brighton coach – which ^was to start
at nine. I had merely time to go to Bedfd St. & get some
breakfast, & altho’ I was very much fagged, I set off
directly for Brighton, where I arrived at ½ past 4 oC.
The thoughts of seeing dear M. gave me spirits beyond my
natural strength, & I had been to the Gates’s, & securedengaged
a room (not in the house, which was full) and dressed
myself by ¼ to five. Ten minutes more brought me
to Western Cottages, & I had the happiness to ###see my
dearest M. once more, looking as lovely as ever, and
still wholly mine. They were kind enough to give
me some dinner, & I spent the remainder of the Ev’g
with them.
