Friday 3d. From 10 till 5 oC. in the library, occupied on the
MSS. I find Roscoe has scarcely done anything; & has committed
so many blunders, that scarcely any MS. is ^even lettered properly.
The MSS. of ^the Greek Evangelists occupied me all day. Lady Anne
Coke is civil & kind to me in the extreme, I am treated like
a prince. I command the entire range of the libraries – I
have my own room to retire to, if I please, with a fire constantly
lighted, – in short I have everything I can wish for in this world,
except dear M. – Were she here I should ^have attained the summit
of felicity! Mr Arkwright, the clergyman, dined here today.
In the ev’g I read or write, as I please, in one of the drawing
rooms.
